Method
1. Prepare the ingredients
Remove the cheeses from their packaging and cut them into a variety of shapes and sizes. Slice the cheddar into neat batons, cut the Cheshire cheese into chunks and arrange the flavoured cheeses in thin slices to showcase their colours.
Fold the salami slices into halves or loose ribbons to add height and texture to the board.
2. Choose your board
Place a large wooden serving board on a stable surface. Position the cheeses first, spreading them across the board to create a balanced mix of colours, shapes and textures.
Arrange the sliced cheeses in a fan shape and stack the cheddar batons together for a visually appealing display.
3. Add the cured meats
Arrange the salami in overlapping rows around the cheese. Fold some slices into little ribbons or rosettes to create an attractive charcuterie effect.
4. Fill the gaps with fruit
Add clusters of red grapes, fresh blackberries, halved figs and yellow cherry tomatoes around the cheeses and meats. Scatter pomegranate seeds over the board for a jewel-like pop of colour.
Keep some fruit in small clusters to make the board look abundant and inviting.
5. Add the crackers
Fan out the crackers and oatcakes in small stacks around the board, leaving enough space for guests to reach the cheeses easily. Position them next to complementary cheeses and chutney.
6. Garnish with fresh herbs
Tuck fresh basil leaves and rosemary sprigs between the ingredients. These add fresh green colour and create a rustic, autumnal look.
7. Give it a Halloween finish
Place a few small ornamental pumpkins around the board or on the surrounding table to create a seasonal centrepiece. For an edible alternative, use mini pumpkins that have been washed and prepared for serving.
Serve the chutney in a small bowl alongside the board, and let the cheeses sit at room temperature for around 30 minutes before serving for the best flavour and texture.
Tips for the perfect Halloween Cheese board
Mix colours and textures...Combine creamy cheeses (view our full cheese truckle range here), vibrant orange cheddar, dark berries and jewel-red pomegranate for a dramatic Halloween palette.
Create height: Use folded meats, fanned crackers and stacked cheese slices to make the board look generous.
Keep it practical: Leave small gaps for serving knives and make sure the crackers are easy to reach.
Prepare ahead: Cut the cheeses and wash the fruit in advance, storing them separately in the fridge. Assemble shortly before serving.
Pair with chutney: Sweet, spiced chutney complements mature cheddar, smoked cheese and the savoury flavours of cured meats.
This Halloween cheese and charcuterie board is easy to customise, beautifully seasonal and perfect for sharing at your next spooky celebration.
