Cheese Information & Storage

How long does waxed cheese last?

Our full range of Waxed Cheese Truckles has a minimum best-before date of 30 days from dispatch, although in most cases the shelf life is considerably longer. Some varieties, such as Blue Cheese, naturally have a shorter shelf life and may have a best-before date of approximately 7 days. Please always check the date provided with your order.

Does waxed cheese need to be refrigerated?

Our wax-coated cheese truckles are designed to help protect the cheese and extend its shelf life. For the best flavour and texture, we recommend storing your cheese in a cool place and following the storage guidance provided with your order. Once opened, cheese should be wrapped carefully and stored in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.

How should I store my cheese?

Keep your cheese refrigerated until you're ready to enjoy it. For the best taste and texture, remove your cheese from the fridge and allow it to reach room temperature before serving. This allows the natural flavours and aromas to fully develop. Cheese can safely be out of refrigeration for short periods, such as during delivery, gifting or serving.

How long can waxed cheese stay out of the fridge?

Waxed cheese is well protected by its coating, making it ideal for gifting and special occasions. Short periods outside refrigeration, such as during delivery or serving, are perfectly normal. For long-term storage and the best quality, we recommend keeping cheese refrigerated or stored according to the guidance provided with your order.

Can cheese truckles be frozen?

Yes, most cheese can be frozen for up to 12 months without significant loss of flavour or texture. To enjoy the best results:
- Defrost your cheese slowly in the refrigerator for around 24 hours
- Allow it to come to room temperature before serving
